That seems to describe what I felt about Guild 2 in general. Well, I think you answered my question anyway, trigger, thanks. It does a lot of what the original does, but feels a little more unfocused. The Guild 2–even the Renaissance version–introduces a lot more stuff to the gameplay…and sometimes it just feels like feature creep. What I loved about the original is that at times it felt like a really personal, almost Sims-like game with an economic and trade system with a medieval setting. The original is sleepy German village, Pirates is sort of Venice-y, and Renaissance is kind of just Italy/France inland in general.Īs far as living up to the promise of the original…Eh. The three versions of The Guild 2 are all for sale because, ostensibly, all three are different settings. You’ll definitely want to hunt down some of the community patches for it, though, since JoWood stopped patching it and left it in a state where as the game progressed, systems stopped working. The graphics haven’t aged well for it, but it’s a nice game.
